<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Joining a library is free, and you can do this if you live, work or study in the borough.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You can join the library by either:</span></p>

<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">visiting your local library</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">completing the <a href="https://libraries.ealing.gov.uk/user/register" target="_blank" rel="noopener">online registration form</a> prior to visiting your local library</span></li>

<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Once you have joined you can borrow from any of the Ealing libraries and return loans to any branch. Books are free to borrow, but there is a small charge for audio-visual items.</span></p>

<h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>If you are aged 16 or over</strong></span></h3>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">To join the library, take one piece of ID with your name on it, for example a bank card or passport, to any Ealing library.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You will be issued with a membership card and asked to sign it. By signing your membership card, you are agreeing to abide by the byelaws of Ealing libraries.</span></p>

<h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If you are under the age of 16</span></h3>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">To join the library, your parent or carer must show one piece of ID with their name on it, and they must sign your library card.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">They will need to complete the recommender section of the joining form and must also give permission on the form that they wish for you to use the internet inside the library.</span></p>

<h2><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">PIN number</span></h2>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>You will need a PIN to access some library online services and the internet on library computers.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Usually your PIN is given to you when you join the library.&nbsp;This should be kept securely as it also gives access to your own personal borrower record.</p>

<p>If you were not given your PIN when you joined the library, or if you have lost it, you will need to visit one of the following libraries with your library card and ID:</p>

<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Unpaid fines and items not returned after notification has been sent to a borrower will enter &lsquo;Default&rsquo; status.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If left unpaid these charges will eventually be passed on to a debt recovery service and incur an additional administrative charge of &pound;10 and the borrowers card will be suspended from use.</span></p>

<p>We have a variety of volunteering roles available in our local libraries, from helping promote the Summer Reading Challenge to children, selling second-hand books, to helping out with events.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Availability of these roles vary throughout the year, and from branch to branch.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Most of our volunteer roles require a weekly time commitment of a few hours, during library opening hours.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We also have some roles with a more flexible time commitment, such as joining our 'volunteer pool', for ad hoc help with events.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Volunteers must be 18 years and over.</p>
